本周我们来学习与医院相关的词汇
1. thermometer /θə'mɒmɪtə/
n. 温度计;体温表;
搭配补充： thermometer measures / reads ..温度计读数为..
e.g. The nurse used athermometerto check my temperature.
e.g. If thethermometer readsover 38 degrees Celsius, you might have an infection.
e.g. Traditional mercury thermometers are being replaced by digital models due to safety concerns.

2. appointment /ə'pɒɪntm(ə)nt/
n. 预约；约定
搭配：dental/dentist's appointments 牙医预约
Outpatient appointments 门诊预约
make/ schedule an appointment 预约

e.g. Myappointmentwith the eye specialist isscheduledfor next week.

3. specialist /ˈspeʃələst/
n. 专家
搭配：a leading/top specialist 顶级专家
a specialist in/on sth 在…方面的专家
e.g. I had to wait three weeks to seea leading specialistbecause the general practitioner couldn’t confirm the diagnosis.
e.g. He works asa specialist ininfectious diseases at a major hospital.
补充：general practitioner 全科医生
infectious disease 传染病
specialize v.专门从事；专门研究
e.g. After medical school, she decided tospecialize incardiology.
补充：cardiology 心脏病学；
4. pediatrician /ˌpi:di:əˈtrɪʃən/
n. 儿科医师
e.g. When my child was sick, we took him to see apediatrician.
e.g. It’s important for parents to have regular check-ups with a trustedpediatrician.
n. pediatrics 儿科学
e.g. The hospital has a dedicatedpediatricsdepartment for child healthcare.
adj. pediatric 儿科的
e.g. Thepediatricdepartment in this hospital is very well equipped.
5. ward /wɔːd/
n. 病房
e.g. He spent a week in thecardiac wardfor heart treatment.
e.g. She was admitted to thematernity wardwhen she went into labor.

be into labor 分娩；生产
