/ PREFACE /
SCARLET,意为「鲜红」、「猩红」;它的气质热烈温暖,充满鲜活的力量,又承载着吉祥的寓意。艺术家川崎泰史在回顾本次个展的创作时,首先浮现于脑中的,便是这一片挥之不去的秾艳色彩。
本次展出的系列作品,其灵感的源头在于数年前艺术家居家创作时的经历。得益于这段静谧的时光,他拟出主题「封闭的空间,内在的万物」——与外界隔绝的同时在内心感知到的事物成了他想讲述的故事;他以画笔及雕塑描绘这些故事,就像是描绘书本中的一页。

SCARLET的颜色便频繁地出现在川崎的绘画、雕塑作品中。
譬如他常用的苹果形象,便是受感于亚当与夏娃的智慧之果;以及为本次展览而首度创作的火焰——火光的摇曳可以慰藉身心,与人温暖,使人安宁。而在许多文化中,点火的行为也等同于祈祷。
川崎写道:
「我祈祷。但愿我的手中可以诞生出美的事物。」
「我描绘红色。但愿我的作品能够走入人心。」
作为索美M50画廊2025年度首个展览,SCARLET更包含着策展团队的诚意祝福。
但愿这热烈的「开门红」照耀灿烂鲜活的新年。

SCARLET, the colour of passion, warmth, freshness, energy, has also in Eastern cultures been considered as the symbol of auspiciousness and good luck. When YASUHITO KAWASAKI, artist of this solo exhibition, looked back on his creations, a hue of resplendent red loomed from vagueness, and lingered on his mind.
The works exhibited here, are inspired by a period of time when, a few years ago, the artist had to stay at home due to the pandemic. The tranquility of staying indoors lead to the main concept of his new series — “enclosed space, and the inner world”. He has been creating art in a narrative style, akin to a page from a book, telling stories based on his reflections on family, his surroundings, and his inner self, all while feeling isolated from the outside world.

SCARLETis also the colour that appears frequently in KAWASAKI’s works. The red, smiley apples, for instance, are inspired by the fruit of wisdom from the Bible. The flames, which KAWASAKI has used as the motif of his paintings for the first time, are passionately scarlet. How the scarlet fire eases our mind, and warms up the air. The act of lighting a fire is considered to be a way of praying in certain cultures.
KAWASAKI has written:
“I pray to God, that beautiful things would be born out of my hands.”
“I depict scarlet. I hope that my work will live on people’s hearts.”
This is Suomei M50 Gallery’s first solo exhibition in 2025.SCARLETstands for the beautiful hopes and blessings of the curation team.

日本艺术家、画家、陶瓷作家
1983年出生于日本佐贺县
2010年毕业于金泽美术工艺大学大学院铸金专业
2013年起成为独立艺术家
2018年与身为陶艺家的妻子相遇,开始以陶瓷为材料创作雕塑作品,并同时开始致力于绘画。
近年来,作品主题逐渐转向「封闭的空间,内在的万物」——与外界隔绝的同时在内心感知到的事物成了他想讲述的故事;他反复咀嚼这些可贵的回忆,以画笔及雕塑描绘这些故事,就像是描绘书本中的一页。此外,他也常常从神话中获得灵感;譬如他标志性的苹果,便来源于圣经中亚当与夏娃的智慧之果。
目前他于佐贺县武雄市的工作室中进行创作活动。

Born in Saga Prefecture in 1983, Yasuhito Kawasaki earned a Master's degree in casting from Kanazawa Art University in Ishikawa, Japan, in 2010. Kawasaki became independent in 2013. In 2018, he met his wife, a ceramic artist, and began creating works in ceramics while also starting to paint. However, during the coronavirus pandemic, he shifted the subject matter of his artworks to explore themes of “closed space and the inner world.” He has been drawing in a narrative style, akin to a page from a book, telling stories based on his reflections on family, his surroundings, and his inner self, all while feeling isolated from the outside world. He often finds inspiration in mythology, with a recurring motif being the “Apple” from the story ofAdam and Eve.
Currently,he creates his works in a studio located in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture, Japan.
