In Lisbon, Portugal, a duplex built in the late 1950s was transformed into the Restelo MGR House by João Tiago Aguiar’s team, which combines historical charm with modern style. This renovation and expansion project not only optimizes the space’s functionality, but also cleverly builds a bridge between old and new elements.

在葡萄牙里斯本，一座建于 20 世纪 50 年代末期的双拼住宅，经 João Tiago Aguiar 团队精心改造，摇身一变成为融合历史韵味与现代风尚的 Restelo MGR 住宅。此次翻新与扩建项目，不仅优化了空间功能，还巧妙地在新旧元素间搭建起对话的桥梁。

From the outside, the new loft adds vertical space to the existing basement and two-story building, allowing residents to enjoy panoramic views. To distinguish the new extension from the original structure while maintaining the overall harmony, the extension area uses white painted aluminum shutter sliding panels. These panels integrate functional elements such as shutters and railings into a smooth design, forming a sharp contrast with the original building facade, which is both modern and nostalgic. The wooden window frames, created by Carpintaria Mateus, are paired with aluminum panels to form a contrast between hard and soft materials, adding a rich texture layer to the building's appearance.

从外观来看，新增的阁楼为原本的地下室和两层建筑增添了垂直空间，让住户得以饱览全景视野。为区分新扩建部分与原有结构，同时保持整体和谐统一，扩建区域采用了白色喷漆铝制百叶滑动面板。这些面板将百叶窗和栏杆等功能元素融入流畅的设计中，与原始建筑立面形成鲜明对比，既彰显现代风格，又与过往岁月遥相呼应。木质窗框由 Carpintaria Mateus 打造，与铝制面板搭配，在材质上形成刚与柔的对比，为建筑外观增添了丰富的质感层次。

Once inside, you’ll find high-end materials such as natural wood, natural stone and semi-handmade tiles, which give the space a warm touch and unique textures, creating an atmosphere that is both respectful of history and full of modernity. The basement has been completely remodeled and has multiple functions. In addition to the garage for two cars, the technical room and the laundry area, there is also a maid’s suite, an indoor counter-current swimming pool and a guest suite. The leisure area is equipped with a cinema, a pool table and a temperature-controlled wine cellar, combining luxury and practicality. The pool is paved with semi-handmade tiles from Azulcer | Living Tiles, whose unique textures and colors add a touch of sophistication and agility to the basement.

踏入住宅，天然木材、天然石材和半手工瓷砖等高档材料随处可见，它们赋予空间温暖的触感和独特的纹理，营造出既尊重历史又充满现代气息的氛围。地下室经过彻底改造，功能多样。除了能停放两辆车的车库、技术室和洗衣区，还设有女仆套房、室内逆流游泳池和客用套房。休闲区域配备了电影院、台球桌，以及温控酒窖，兼顾奢华享受与实用功能。泳池采用 Azulcer | Living Tiles 的半手工瓷砖铺设，独特的纹理和色彩为地下室增添了一份精致与灵动。

The design of the first floor emphasizes the openness of space and the continuity of functions. The spacious entrance hall is decorated with custom-made furniture, which serves as a decorative highlight to welcome guests and can also be used to store small daily items. The kitchen entrance is cleverly integrated into the surrounding cabinets, which naturally connects to the hall. There are also wardrobes and guest toilets hidden on the side, so that practical functions do not destroy the beauty of the space. The kitchen has an island and informal dining area, as well as hidden storage space, which meets the dual needs of cooking and socializing. The open office adjacent to the dining room is equipped with bookshelves and a fireplace fueled by pallets, adding a rustic and environmentally friendly atmosphere to the space.

一楼的设计强调空间的开放性与功能的连贯性。宽敞的入口大厅摆放着定制家具，既作为欢迎宾客的装饰亮点，又可用于放置日常小物件。厨房入口巧妙地融入周边橱柜，与大厅自然衔接，一旁还隐藏着衣柜和客用卫生间，让实用功能不破坏空间美感。厨房内设有岛台和非正式用餐区，还配有隐藏式储物空间，满足烹饪与社交的双重需求。毗邻餐厅的开放式办公室，配备了书架和以托盘为燃料的壁炉，为空间增添了质朴与环保的氛围。

The large dining table in the dining room is equipped with integrated shelves and storage space, achieving a perfect balance between beauty and practicality. Passing through the eye-catching floating fireplace, you will come to the living room. The living room is located in the southwest corner of the house. The large pocket windows blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, bringing the magnificent view of the Tagus River estuary into the room. The retained back balcony further strengthens the connection with the garden and extends the social and living space.

餐厅的大餐桌搭配一体化的搁板和储物空间，在美观与实用间达到完美平衡。穿过醒目的悬浮式壁炉，便来到了客厅。客厅位于房屋西南角，大面积的口袋窗模糊了室内外的界限，将塔霍河河口的壮丽景色引入室内，保留的后阳台则进一步加强了与花园的联系，延伸了社交和生活空间。

The original second floor was reconfigured to include two guest suites and a spacious master suite. The master suite occupies most of the added area and features a walk-in closet and large windows facing southwest to take in the views. The newly added balcony echoes the balcony on the first floor, strengthening the vertical connection between indoor and outdoor areas.

原本的二楼经过重新规划，被改造成两间套房和一间宽敞的主卧套房。主卧套房占据了大部分扩建面积，设有步入式衣橱和朝西南的大窗户，住户可尽情欣赏美景。新增的阳台与一楼的阳台相呼应，在垂直方向上强化了室内外的连接。

The new loft is a multifunctional retreat with a small office, multi-purpose room, storage area, toilet and compact kitchenette, which is strategically located to provide drinks and snacks to the terrace, where residents can enjoy the stunning sunset in the evening.

新搭建的阁楼宛如一处多功能的静谧天地，设有小办公室、多功能室、储物区、卫生间和紧凑型小厨房。小厨房位置巧妙，方便为露台提供饮品和小吃。傍晚时分，住户可在露台上欣赏绝美的落日景色，惬意非常。

The outdoor space is also carefully designed. The green hand-tiled swimming pool is set against a lawn, surrounded by a barbecue area, an outdoor toilet, and storage space for gardening tools and furniture. Each area is naturally integrated to provide a comfortable place for residents to relax.

住宅的室外空间同样经过精心打造。绿色手工瓷砖铺设的游泳池与草坪相得益彰，周边还设有烧烤区、室外卫生间，以及存放园艺工具和家具的储物空间，各个区域自然融合，为住户提供了舒适的休闲场所。

Throughout the decoration process, the use of various brand products also adds a lot of color to the residence. Electrical accessories from Jung HQ, semi-handmade bathroom tiles from CEVICA, paints from CIN, S.A., lighting equipment from Climar S.A., etc., not only meet functional requirements, but also ensure the unity of quality and style.
