Over time, this tradition gradually evolved into today's Laba Festival, becoming one of the key festivals leading up to the Spring Festival.
腊八粥是这个节日的主角,制作腊八粥是一门艺术。传统的腊八粥通常包含八种以上的食材,如糯米、红豆、绿豆、薏仁、莲子、桂圆、红枣和花生等。先将所有干料洗净浸泡数小时,然后放入锅中,加入适量清水,大火煮沸后转小火慢炖至粘稠,期间可根据口味加入冰糖调味。当香气四溢时,一碗碗暖人心脾的腊八粥就准备好了。
Laba porridge is the centerpiece of this festival, and making it is an art form. Traditional Laba porridge typically includes more than eight ingredients, such as glutinous rice, red beans, green beans, barley, lotus seeds, longan, red dates, and peanuts. First, all the dry ingredients are washed and soaked for several hours. They are then placed in a pot with enough water, brought to a boil over high heat, and then simmered on low heat until thick. Ice sugar can be added for flavor according to taste. When the aroma fills the air, bowls of warm and comforting Laba porridge are ready.
